Driven by needs and emotions that are grubbily petty, ugly and selfish, it also happens to be delightfully funny: Even the meanest forms of humanity can jerk you into unexpected fits of laughter.
The season nine premiere was fairly average by It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia standards, but still great when compared with the rest of television comedy.
Ah, welcome back Always Sunny. You might be hit or miss, and getting a bit long in the tooth, but there's just something so refreshing about re-entering your world of constant cruelty and tasteless tomfoolery.
It's almost comforting in a way. The world might change, but the basic personalities of these schemers, cutthroats and loveable villains never do. They're outlandish. They're mean-spirited, and they're still really damn funny.
